The court circuit ahead of Donald Trump.
Tactically Guilty

Convicted Criminal Donald J. Trump is on the move! Although not known for being a team player, the increasing number of criminal cases tackling the 45th president from every which way may be cause for him to retire his run for dictator [1] and consider going pro in the Lawlympics. Judging from Team Trump's procedural appeals playbook, it's no wonder that restless Americans are increasingly confused by the judicial circus spanning county courts, circuit courts, district courts, appellate courts, lower courts, higher courts, volleyball courts, and the entire U.S. Supreme Court ouroboros freak-show. One thing is for sure however, were this Floridian criminal to be sentenced as a convicted felon and struck with the looming prison time typically attributed to his brand of crimes, then he had better have a great game plan if he ever wants to vote for himself on November 5th.

Should the popular coinage of Plutarch's proverb that "the wheels of justice turn slowly, but grind exceedingly fine"[2] hold true, then this judicial quagmire must be one of those Da Vinci tank contraptions that spin in place and shoot aimlessly despite themselves.

Here’s the offensive play as of May 30, 2024:

In D.C., Trump is accused of conspiring to defraud the American People of their right to vote by primarily attempting to interfere with the election certification during an insurrection against the U.S. Capitol waged by seditionists on January 6, 2021. [3]

In Florida, through evidence corroborated by accomplices, authenticated crime scene photos, and CCTV footage, Trump is alleged to have stock-piled and withheld Top Secret documents in his private estates, country clubs, and bathrooms; later sharing them with club members and foreign heads of state, according to witnesses. Initially lying about his nearly year-long correspondence with the FBI and DOJ, he declared that the legal searches of his properties were unanticipated and unprovoked raids, quickly denying having any documents. He then claimed executive privilege on all documents subsequently found, accused the FBI of planting everything, stated that he had preemptively declassified their contents by merely thinking it, requested a special master to review the files he kept from authorities, and finally admitted to having more documents in his possession after the DOJ and National Archives reported that they were still missing many, including Kim Jong Un's "love letters." [4] In spite of overwhelmingly substantiated proof, the case is indefinitely on hold because of maneuverings by the presiding Trump-appointed judge, Aileen Cannon. TBD.

In Georgia, Trump is alleged to have conspired in a Racketeering Influence scheme through a Corrupt Organization (RICO) to hijack the Georgia state election by attempting to compel the Georgia Secretary of State to artificially "find 11,780 votes," and by pushing his sycophants to harass election workers on the basis of debunked drug-related conspiracy theories. [5]

In NY, along with already being civilly liable for rape*, defamation, and tax fraud [6], Trump has been found unanimously GUILTY by a NY jury of his peers (12-0 on all 34 counts) of committing the felony of campaign finance fraud and falsifying business records by paying hush money to a porn star through Michael Cohen (his former attorney) and Allen Weisselberg (the Trump organization CFO) to hide information from voters ahead of the 2016 election. [7]

But were one to search for a balanced equation that showcased the depth of guilt this man is embroiled in, look no further than in the irrefutable case of simple mathematics ruled over by Justice Arthur F. Engoron [7.5]. Of the more black-and-white cases, Donald Trump reportedly inflated the square footage of his Trump Tower apartment to around 30,000 square feet to secure more favorable loan terms, even though the actual size was closer to 11,000 square feet. This exaggeration increased the apartment’s value on paper, giving him access to larger loans at better rates. Conversely, he allegedly reduced property values to lower his tax burden, a tactic examined in a New York civil fraud case, where Justice Engoron found Trump and the Trump Organization guilty of fraudulent financial practices. The decision mandates over $450 million in payments, bans Trump and his adult sons from holding officer roles in New York, and restricts their ability to conduct business in the state.

(Update Sept 2024) An appeal on the proportion of questionably high penalties relative to damages is expected to spill into a push by Trump's team to reverse the ruling altogether.

With many more credible civil and criminal indictments in the pipeline, including further cases of election fraud, emolument clause violations, collusion with foreign actors, and even treason, today's illustration runs a serious risk of under-representing the mosaic of courthouses that will be involved!

Finally, be thoroughly warned:

Vote for a criminal, elect a criminal state.
